Tomato Bowl: Lee- Davis vs. Patrick Henry
On Friday Sept, 19 the Confederates welcomed the Patriots for the annual Tomato Bowl. The first scoring drive of the contest was highlighted by the Lee Davis offense, led by Will Burton who connected on a 25yard touchdown pass to T.J. Harvey.
The Patriots first drive was highlighted by a 43 yard run by Cash, to put the Patriots in position to score. The drive was finished by a 9 yard run by Adrian Cavanaugh to tie the game at 7.
The Patriots scored again on the ground early in the second quarter. Adrian Cavanaugh sparked the second with a 40 yard run, which led to another short td run, to put the score to 14-7 Patriots at the half.
The third quarter was dominated by both defensive squads. Neither team put any points on the board until late in the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter, Lee Davis scored late by another Burton to Harvey touchdown. Going for the glory, the Confederates went for a two point conversion and the lead. David Fetter found a hole big enough to get into the end zone, but a time out had been called by the Patriot coaches, negating the play. The next attempt was stopped short, and the Patriots would hold on to win 14-13. |
